Renewable raw materials

Renewable raw materials at the heart of tomorrow’s chemistry

Substituting vegetable resources to fossil resources

With fossil resources now dwindling, the future of chemistry rests in part in the growing use of renewable raw materials derived from vegetable productions, the only raw materials which can offer a sustainable alternative to oil.

Arkema’s expertise in vegetable chemistry

Arkema benefits from long-standing experience in the use of raw materials of vegetable origin, in particular with castor oil chemistry which has given rise to a group of performance products with high added value, including Rilsan® 11, a top-of-the-range polyamide designed for technical applications, and its by-products used in the perfume and food-processing industries.

High performance polymers from plants

The first range of thermoplastic elastomers directly inspired by the chemistry of Rilsan® 11 polyamide, a castor oil derivative,

Pebax® Rnew features outstanding properties which have countless applications in many areas, from sports to electronics to medical equipment.

Platamid® Rnew, produced from 100% renewable raw materials, is used to manufacture thermoplastic hotmelt adhesives which solve the most difficult bonding problems.
